More about Sonrise Station

Trustees: Ross Massam, Sharon Fieten, Deidre Martin, Bill Harvey.

Sonrise Station is about horse trekking, home stays and Christian camping (see our Statement of belief)

Our aim is to provide an opportunity for people of all ages to experience station life on a sheep and beef farm and to experience some of God's magnificent creation.

As we are a working farm we offer a home-stay for overseas visitors who wish to work part time in lieu of board, to learn about NZ farming patterns and lifestyles as we go about our daily chores.

Sheep mustering and docking, seasonal woolshed shearing, and paddock changing for the hereford cattle along with drenching, weighing and drafting stock are just some of the farm activities which our horse camps and visitors enjoy being involved in.

Campers enjoying the horse camps can expect daily trekking over the station. Sonrise teaches not only horse husbandry but also encourages teamwork, initiates fun and challenges each individual to become a better person and horse rider. Campers also enjoy daily encouraging and exciting devotions and sing-alongs where practical Christianity is taught, relevant in today's world.

Many helpers and volunteers also contribute to the running of Sonrise.
